Review: The Chalk Man by C.J. Tudor

In 1986, Eddie and his friends are just kids on the verge of adolescence. They spend their days biking around their sleepy English village and looking for any taste of excitement they can get. The chalk men are their secret code: little chalk stick figures they leave for one another as messages only they can understand. But then a mysterious chalk man leads them right to a dismembered body, and nothing is ever the same.
In 2016, Eddie is fully grown, and thinks he's put his past behind him. But then he gets a letter in the mail, containing a single chalk stick figure. When it turns out that his friends got the same message, they think it could be a prank . . . until one of them turns up dead.
That's when Eddie realizes that saving himself means finally figuring out what really happened all those years ago.
Expertly alternating between flashbacks and the present day, The Chalk Man is the very best kind of suspense novel, one where every character is wonderfully fleshed out and compelling, where every mystery has a satisfying payoff, and where the twists will shock even the savviest reader.

My Review:

Great story that kept me guessing until almost the very end. A definite must read page turner. The group of friends, and the finding of a body reminded me of the kids from Stand By Me.

I thought the story was very well written. It left me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t put it down! I actually read it in one setting. One of the best psychological thrillers I have read this year.

I received this book from Blogging For Books in exchange for an honest review.

Fundraiser for Gladys

Gladys Gonzales Atwell is a PA/PR representative to many Indy and hybrid authors. She also founded Nerd Girl Official after a fight for her life after her surgery went wrong.  She was on temporary disability for a while and then started working for more Indy authors and  just recently at Salon Marielle hair salon co-owned by Hallowread creator Rachel Rawlings.

Just recently she suffered a heart attack which turned out to be a rare symptomatic type of heart attack caused by a tear in her aortic valve.  Typically caused by the hormone replacement therapy she started when she had her ovaries removed.

We are hoping that the online auctions will enable us to raise some money for the time she was in the hospital, off of work from her day job, medical bills and other visit to the specialists.

We have 16 auctions currently running, so please join the party and bid on some treasures for you and help an amazing person at the same time!

Cover Reveal: Collision By Tanya Ruby

Katlyn.
I was alone in the world.
Most of my life I've spent hungry, cold, and afraid, but I finally had enough.
I didn’t deserve to live this way, no one did.
Only one problem, finding a way out.

One minute I’m looking for a place to sleep and then the next I’m waking up in a hospital bed with a handsome stranger at my side.

He says he wants to help me. He wants to offer me a new lease of life.

Now I’m left asking myself?
Am I making the right decision accepting his help or is this a head-on collision waiting to happen?

I’m honestly not sure. All I know do know is… I can’t go back to the life I had before.
